I just saw the new uniforms and I really like them. Simple and classic. This is one I am going to have to buy.
Our ladies are in Portugal for the Algrave Cup. One day I need to plan a vacation around this – combining two of my favorite things – soccer and travel.
The USWNT is coming to Houston and I’ll get a chance to see them! Christmas came early this year!!!
So see the future of the USWNT, catch the U17 WC currently going on. The US tied France 0-0 in the opening game (the US did not play well) and defeated Gambia 6-0. They next face, who else, North Korea on Saturday. The games are only being shown on ESPN3.
Interesting developments for the world of women’s soccer in the US
Two very nice goals in this game. The US played very poorly in the first half but got it together for the second.
Don’t forget the game on Sunday and then Wednesday against Australia. They should prove to be a stiffer test than Costa RIca, And the U17s start play in the U17 WC On Saturday, 9/22. Can they bring home the hat trick – Olympics, U20WC, and U17WC?
Way to go U20’s! They defeated Germany 1-0 to claim the U20 WWC!!!! Yep, the senior team will be getting some good players in the next few years.
The U20’s are in the final! They defeated a very good Nigerian team 2-0. They will face Germany, who swatted them 3-0 in the group phase, Saturday. Japan and Nigeria will meet for the 3rd place game.
Pia is leaving. Thank you for bring back our team, who had lost their way a bit. Good luck and if Sweden doesn’t hire you as the women’s head coach – they are nuts!
For a peek at the future, check out the Women’ U20 WC. Today, or rather yesterday (it’s being held in Japan), the US defeated North Korea in the quarters. It was a great game! If you haven’t seen it, I would recommend watching a re-play on ESPN3. Both teams played technical, passing soccer and it was the best I had seen the US play in this…[Read more]

That. Was. AWESOME.
USA! USA! USA! WAHOOOOOOOO!
And the venom keeps coming. The US cheats, the US plays dirty, the US buys refs, the US controls the Olympics, etc, etc, etc. No, the US doesn’t cheat, they don’t play dirty, they don’t buy refs, and they don’t control the Olympics. I understand being upset about the call, but grow up, Canada! If you don’t get your head straight, you…[Read more]
And let’s not forget when Tancredi decided to stomp on Carli Lloyd’s face..because that’s totally not dirty at all… http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/soccer/expert-analysis-time-wasting-accusations-and-head-stomp-controversy.html
Before I saw that, I was going to praise both teams for not flopping, whining for cards, or committing dirty plays. And any sympathy I had for Canada totally evaporated. And yes, I will be rooting for France tomorrow morning!
Everyone catch their breath yet? WOW!!! That was a battle royal, with neither side backing down. Sinclair took the Canadian team on her back and nearly carried them to the gold medal match. Morgan saved us all from the agony of PKs with an amazing header. Unfortunately, most of the talk about this game will be about that strange call on…[Read more]
USA! USA! USA!
Cross an ocean, spend weeks in a foreign land, and play a game against ….. Canada. Couldn’t we have done this at home and saved some time?
Now Morgan just needs to get her scoring touch back. Everyone with twitter – send her encouragement!
Tomorrow is win or go home. Go USA!
Now it’s on to the quarters and New Zealand! I still feel cold from that friendly in Frisco – yes, it can get cold in Texas.
