Two of the hottest teams in Major League Soccer made it this far. Seattle scored 52 goals this season, and conceded 49 goals. The Sounders are the favorite side because numbers don’t tell you the full story after all. This season was a challenge for them in terms of injuries, retirements, international call ups, suspensions, returns from injury and much more. They sometimes look like a team that its at its best, when they sit in, absorb, and hit. That’s exactly what they did with the favorite and number one team in the western conference LAFC.
They have demonstrated to have skill, and get through the central midfield with Nico Lodeiro as their captain commanding things through the middle. Plus, combing with the left winger Jordan Morris. Playing at home is a huge advantage, which builds the momentum of the game. They’re going to want to show what the team is made up to the 70,000 fans that we’ll pay a ticket to watch the final live. Victor Rodriguez is healthy and expected to be available on Sunday. When he comes in as a left winger, there’s more turbo on the left side. He can function either as a winger off the ball or playing as a number 10. When he has played with Lodeiro, both have given headaches to their opponents, it hasn’t been an easy task to stop them. Lodeiro is one of the hardest number 10 in the league to track because he can go anywhere, and gets comfortable in any situation. Seattle makes it to the final being the better, and healthier team.
On the other hand, Toronto is the most flexible team in the history of MLS. After the departure of Sebastian Giovinco, Vanney brought Alejandro Pozuelo on board who’s been playing as a false 9. Jozy Altidore certainly will not be on the starting eleven. Former Belgian player Laurent Ciman had a miserable regular season, but has been getting much better in the playoffs. Omar Gonzalez is expected to be fully fit by Sunday after missing the entire playoffs with a hamstring strain. When he arrived midseason, he solidified a leaky defense. Bradley will have to do team work with Marky Delgado and Jonathan Osorio to make sure Lodeiro doesn’t dominate the game. Toronto doesn’t have the speed to kill them on the break.
