Los Angeles has always been a point of interest for numerous visits; more than 50 million annual visitors. After all it’s the sports and entertainment capital of the world. It hasn’t hosted the Summer Olympics since 1984 before I was even born. The city has only hosted them on three occasions 1932, 1984 and the upcoming 2028 ones. LA has also hosted three World Cups one men’s 1994 and two women’s 1999 and 2003, and two Super Bowls. Most cities have only had 7 years to prepare for the Olympics, LA has been granted 11 years for preparations.
The Banc of California Stadium will host soccer matches and other events in athletics, SoFi stadium will be completed next year, and will host the main opening ceremony, soccer and archery. LA went a complete renovation even with transportation. The 28 initiative was set by Mayor Eric Garcetti to complete 28 transit infrastructure projects before the start of the ceremonies. LAX one of the busiest airports in the world is also undergoing renovations, it will have a people mover that is scheduled to open in 2022, the LAX renovations should be complete before the Olympics. Two events have attracted different franchises, the NCAA Men’s Basketball West Regional at the Honda Center hosted the tournament for the eighth time in history. The arena underwent various multi dollar renovations over the course of the years; becoming one the favorite destinations of the NCAA in March of this year. The Breeders’ Cup in Santa Anita Park took place two weeks ago, and it sure was one of the most important tournaments in horse racing, it was the 16th time that the event was held in Southern California and the 11th time in Santa Anita.
You won’t want to miss these important tournaments, so stay tuned for the best action in Los Angeles. In July for the first time in history the Dodger Stadium will host an MLB All Star Game event since the 80’s. The Rose Bowl is home for many different sporting disciplines including football, in January 1, 2021 a College Playoff Semifinal will take place. The first playoff game happened in 2015. The Super Bowl one of the most popular sporting event in the world has long been awaited here and it will finally happen after 1993 on February 6 2022 at Hollywood Park before the World Cup and Olympics. A year after Los Angeles Country Club will host the U.S. Open on June 2023 from the 15-18th.
