The Barranquilla team from the Colombian city full of festivities and stars like Shakira tied against Tolima in Ibague as visitors at the Manuel Murillo Toro stadium. Junior will be part of their third consecutive final, in which in the two previous ones they have been crowned the champions. The first team to open the scoreboard was Tolima with José David Moya’s header in the 8th minute after a centering pass from Jaminton Campaz. Four minutes later, Germán Mera with a header tied the game for Junior. In the 35th minute, the referee Andrés Rojas granted a penalty in favor of Tolima after a foul against Alex Castro. Danovis Banguero converted the penalty in the 37th minute and gave the locals a 2-1 score.
During the second half, the referee game a red card to Gabriel Fuentes, and Junior was left with only 10 men for a supposed aggression towards Ánderson Plata. Tolima had to win this game in order to dispute the second star of the year. Edwuin Cetre with a strong left leg shot would tie the game in the 71st minute for Junior, after Cariaco González assisted him. But the game ended in a tie, Tolima ran out of time, and Junior once again was in another final.
