Was there ever any doubt? Julie Ertz, hungry as ever, scored the solo goal for the USWNT in the 87th minute to lift the U.S. (2-0-0) over Spain and to the top of the She Believes Cup standings.
After earning her 100th cap for the USWNT against England earlier in the She Believes Cup tournament, Ertz captured a perfect free kick from Christen Press, knocking in a beautiful set piece goal at the 87th minute bringing the crowd to their feet.
On International Women’s Day, soccer supporters certainly gave the women of international football a shout-out with a sell-out crowd of 26,500 at Red Bull Arena, and vice-versa, both teams gave their supporters a evenly-distributed match with Spain’s technical prowess and the U.S.’s physicality balancing each other on the pitch.
The U.S. can win its third SheBelieves Cup title with a win or draw vs. Japan on Wednesday.
