GOALS FROM CHRISTEN PRESS AND MEGAN RAPINOE
Christen Press Gets 10th Goal in Last 13 Games; Lindsey Horan Assists on Both Goals
ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2021) — The U.S. Women’s National Team continued its winning streak 2-0 against Brazil in second of its three matches at the 2021 SheBelieves Cup. Goals from Christen Press and Megan Rapinoe, served up by Lindsey Horan – put the US in first place in the tournament, with just one match to go.
This was the first time the USA faced former USWNT head coach Pia Sundhage in her new role as the Brazilian head coach. Pia and her USWNT accumulated two gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games but ultimately lost the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final to Japan in a shootout.
Today’s win against Brazil leaves the USWNT at the top of the SheBelieves Cup standings. A win or draw against Argentina on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida would give the US Women’s National Team their fourth tournament title since the She Believes Cup began in 2016.
