Lionel Messi was awarded another Ballon in Paris at the Theatre du Chatelet. He surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo, and became the all time winner of the award. His soccer career with Barcelona this season was a rollercoaster. The Argentinian failed to win the Champions League, and Copa America. But did win the league, and was the top scorer both in Spain, and Europe.

He won his sixth golden boot with 36 goals. He tallied 51 goals in 50 matches in all competitions last season. He beat Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, Reds forward Sadio Mane, and Cristiano Ronaldo. In his career in Barcelona he has scored more than 600 goals, with 52 career hat tricks. He scored a brilliant goal on Sunday to secure the win against Atletico Madrid.
